This series of manipulated photographs unearths and imposes symbolic shapes on natural surfaces, allowing one to consider how archetypes help us understand our complicated relationship with our environment in the broadest sense, and the increasing distortions of this relationship in modern life. Looking at nature and how we are part of it is important to address and acknowledge these distortions, and this series intends to offer alternative modes of perceiving this relationship. Shooting close-up, along with potent symbols and vivid colours, allows the plant and mineral subject matter to be perceived in new ways. Alternative perspectives and depths of field combined with apparently unrealistic colours speak to the limitlessness of ways of perceiving.
